I did notice that when the plug was pulled out there was a sound from the fuse box as though its connected to a relay. Many thanks Swifty Quote

That would be the gala (speed pulse) wire. Necessary for the (VW derived) satnav option on MkII Galaxy's ( but not for satnav in MkI Galaxies as they use the ABS signals). Also used for the automatic volume control that increases Ford radio volume as the car speed increases. If you are not bothered by either function, then it is entirely optional. Quote
