Guest Poplar Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 The LCD Mileage trip/service announcement on the dash of my Ghia has shown: ----- every since the last service when it did say "Service Miles 02" or other such words. The nice service man told me how to get rid of that but now I can't use the mile trip. Anyone know ho to do it? The dash is shared with the Sharon but I've had no help from the VW sites I've tried. Help gratefully appreciated. I tried the suggestion below and the display now reads 0,0 miles with ignition on and "Service Oil" with ignition off. I reckon it's sorted by the reset. I have reset before so it's either waiting for at least 5 seconds or hold button in AND THEN insert key and swith ignition on. Thanks, Ivor E much appreciated. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 When you cleared the message it should have defaulted back to trip mode. If it hasn't, either it is broken or are you sure that the knob is not stuck "in"? Try resetting it again - hold it in before inserting your ignition key, keep it pressed in whilst you turn the key to "ignition" position (dash warning lights on) then hold it for about 5 seconds, release the button and the trip function should be working again.Good luck.
