Hi

Front heater fan stopped working on speeds one and two so I replaced the reister pack as sugested in numerous posts. Now I have nothing on speed one, speed two apears to be speed one and three and four are ok. The aircon will switch on when the fan is set at speed one (but fan doesn't work and goes off on two three and four. Sometimes if you have the temp set at 12 o'clock and stop the engine, when you restart it you get full heat. I am suspecting that the heater control switch assembly is faulty, any advice please? Car is a 2003 1.9tdi 115bhp zetec.

Thanks for any help

Hi

Would really appreciate any help on this. The resistor pack that came off the car had a green socket on it and the new one supplied by ford was a blue one. Does anyone know if they are definately the same?

Thanks

They are probably different.

Basically they way it works is that position 4 connects directly top the blower motor,

3 goes via a small resistance, 2 via a medium and 1 via a large.

Obviously a problem with the resistor pack is not going to affect position 4.

It should ( probably ) have the resistance values for all three positions written on the resistor pack.

Something like 1.92 , 0.92 and 0.26 ohms.

These may be written as 1R9K, R92K and R26K respectively.

Check both resistor packs and see if they are the same ?

Thanks for you help Big Kev.

I checked the new resistor pack and sure enough it was different. I contacted ford who supplied it, and the service manager confirmed I had been given the wrong part and ordered the correct one straight away. Now fitted and all is well

So if anyone is changing there resistor pack in the future, the one with the green socket ( correct one for my 2003 TDI) part number is 1104837 and the one with the blue socket which fits god knows what is 1033917.
