Guest curly Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Hi People! I have a 1999 V plate 2.3 Zetec. When I purchased the car [not from a Ford dealer], it didn't come with it's original keys. Can anyone enlighten me as to wether it will have remote central locking fitted as standard? If so do I just have to purchase the remote fob? Ford can't tell me if my car has this feature without plugging it into a machine and charging me Quote
Guest ianock Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 True what your dealer says i'm afraid but I cant see why you cant get the part number from the locking module & take to your Ford parts department, this should tell you if it has remote locking or not(should be located under the passenger seat under the floor, push seat fully foward & look from behind the seat)part number will be something like 98 18k654da etc etc. However your need a key cut plus the remote plus programmed into immobiliser system on Ford computer, could be cheaper getting a aftermarket alarm fitted with remote locking?unless you can get a working remote cheap from ebay or somewhere?Maybe someone else on the forum can give you a exact price for the above parts/labour. Quote
Guest Poplar Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Ianock seems to know quite a bit. I know that remote was an optional extra on that model. I was quoted over Quote
_dg Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I have a W zetec, and remote locking apparently did not come as standard until the late W facelift. Incidently, the locking unit was moved from under the seat due to water flooding that area, and if you do have it, then the unit would be behind the fuse board panel. I think if you search these forums, then there is a picture of the unit to watch ouit for. In your search, you may also find reference to an alternative retro-fit module for about Quote
