fireski Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I have a 2002 115psi Galaxy. The engine periodically loses power and the ESP light immediately lights up. This has got progressively worse. At present the ESP light remains illuminated at start up with the engine not delivering the power it should. As a pre-cursor to getting the fault codes read at the local Ford dealer, is there anything obvious that I should be checking?! Quote
gregers Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 i would 1st put a shout out to see if theres someone near to you who has vag-com who could read the fault codes for you for some beer tokens rather then spending a weeks wages at fords? Quote
westie Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 This might be well wide of the mark, but have you checked your rear brake lights? If the switch on top of the pedal is getting worn and the brake lights are sticking on, it can do funny things with the engine response as i believe its all part of the "system"!! Next time you get a lack of power, look in the mirror and see if the rear brake light at the top of the hatch is illuminated. Quote
fireski Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 Just checked brake lights. They are working fine. Anyone with VAG-COM in Telford Shropshire area?! Quote
