Hi people i'm here for help/advice once again, my 1998 S reg 1.9tdi galaxy has started to be exceptionally smokey shortly after starting, eg, start her up at work all's well go hundred yards down road, stop at lights for 1min or so, pull off and bloody hell there's one hell of a cloud and a trail behind me ! which tapers off, but almost every time i stop at a junction or lights the same happens again. There's also a stonger smell than norm when ticking over.

thanks for any hrlp in advance as ever

yeh i'm aware of the aux heater but it's not that cus it does it on warm day to ! also forgot to mention my mpg seems to have gone down slightly 3 or 4 mpg there does also seem to be the occasional lack in performance but that may be in my imagination, i always expect the worst ! cheers for the input though

I would pull fuse 12 for the aux heater and drive for a few days without that (check its 12 on your car) just to be 100% sure its not the aux heater as that'll probably be the easiest to fix! Next I would look at the usual suspects such as air filter and fuel filter to ensure its running as should do. After that it'll most likely be down to timing or an injector issue  but start with the simple things first!

cheers, have already tried pulling the aux heater fuse to confirm that, so guess i'm looking a garage bill now to check injectors and timing ? Edited by muppetofdoom

Does anyone know if the aux heater applies to the Mk I Galaxy? I looked for fuse 12 relating to this and it is for something else. Could it be called something else?
