What's the deal with Ford Direct? Several times I've seen the Galaxy I want appear on the Ford Direct website but I can't get my local dealers to take an interest in getting the car for me.

The position seems to be that Ford advertise the cars at too low a price for the dealers to make the mark up they want.

Anyone know a dealer reasonably close to Bristol who would be more helpful with this?

Apparently not all Ford dealers are "connected" to tthe Ford Direct system. If you're having problems, I suggest you phone or e-mail Ford and ask for help plus name of nearest dealer who is in the scheme.

I found Motors Coalville to have a good selection of Galaxy's however the sales man didnt ring me back when I was looking...at all. The best service and by far the cheapest has been Prestwood Motors of Great Missenden, About 1 or 2 k cheaper than some Ford Direct cars I saw, over inflated prices.

Give Prestwood a ring on 01494 866446

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Ford Direct website. My local Ford dealer is a Ford Direct dealer but he said he couldn't get the ones on the public site as they had to be bought through the advertising dealer. The only Ford Direct cars he could get were the ones on the system in their showroom.

A lot of the cars on there are very out of date as well. Many times I phoned the dealer on the website, only to find the car had gone a couple of months before!

Useful info Guys, Prestwood look interesting though no 2.8's in my range at the moment. Coalville seems to be the place to go if you want a V6, though it's a long way to go for some folks.

Hi

The Prestwood site isnt that up to date and they have new stock arriving dialy, they can also source the right vehicle for you, I would give them a ring and tell them your requirements and leave it with them.

I only asked because I got my current galaxy from Motors Coalville too and when last there, I saw an oyster variant at the price you indicated.

I know I've had my share of niggles with the car but, I like you, think the guys down there are very helpful. I know the service guys pretty well now and every time I book it in, they try and get me something bigger than a Ka as courtesy.

With regards to the Ford Direct website, it's downright disgraceful! It is so out of date all the time that it's unbelievable. There were a number of cars on the site that I liked but when I called they had always been sold. In fact my car was on their site and remained there for about 10 weeks after I had bought it!

Brunel Ford in Bristol have ordered the car for me so success at last! Out of interest, the car diappeared off the Ford Direct site within a couple of hours of me buying it!

Actually, my last galaxy was in satin Silver as well and I normally like a colour change but Coalvilles only had that one in that colour. so the downside is that I cannot show off or be as posey with the neighbours as no one has noticed I've changed the car unless they are sharp and can tell the wheels are different. I'll have to hang a sign up I guess.

Aside from that, I must admit that I have only bought cars from Coalville as its too far for me to get serviced there and I must be lucky as I had had no problems so far with my new one or any probs at all with the last one.
