Guest Dougwzz99 Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 The front windscreen washer jets on my new Galaxy are doing a great job of putting water on the roof :D they are set much too high! I've had a look at adjusting them but they seem very stiff and I'm wondering if they are meant to be adjusted at all? Theres a small plastic lug sticking out from each jet which implies they are adjustable but I don't want to use too much force in case I break them :D Any advice welcome! --Doug. Quote
Dally Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 They don't adjust! Ford ended up replacing a jet on my last galaxy because they realised it couldn't be adjusted. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Mine are set a little low if anything - I have to rely on the water striking the wipers and splattering over the glass to wet the top part of the screen, but I had come to the conclusion that they were not adjustable after attempting to do something with them. Dally Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 FYI guys. Many months ago, I was in a VW garage and saw this screenwash - The guy told me that it was a must for jets that were of a fan type like the galaxy or sharan.I must admit that I have used this stuff since then and none other.I did use normal stuff in my previous galaxy and I did have a problem with one of the jets.Probably a coincidence but do any of you know why VW recommend that only this stuff be used? MrT Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Ever tried to adjust the rear washer jet on the later models? With the curved glass you can never seem to get a spread that enables the whole rear screen wiped area to be washed. Quote

Dally Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Thanks for that nimrod. Think I'll carry on using it then. Yet another example of Ford using VW stuff but know nothing about it! Quote
rwtomkins Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 i just got a bottle of the special VW stuff from the local VW parts department ( Quote
rwtomkins Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 thinking about it, maybe i'm being a bit thick. i believe the hieroglyphic is saying that in temperatures above freezing, you add 1 part of screenwash to 4 parts of water. if anyone thinks otherwise, please say so. Quote
Dally Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 You've got it! The water droplet symbol indicates the water part and the bottle indicates the screen wash part. At the lowest temperature, it is suggesting 2 parts screenwash and 1 part water and in summer (as you have discovered) 1 part screenwash to 4 parts water! Quote
Guest nimrod Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 The picture on the bottle shows the mix required for -40C ;) I'm sorry but if it gets that cold I'm staying in bed with the heating turned up full! nothing personal lads but some other silly b#gger can tell me later if their washer jets froze or not  Quote
