Guest ianstep Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Hi I have a 2000 2.3 Zetec Galaxy and I want to use the cigar lighter for a handsfree phone supply. The problem is that when the attachment is connected to the outlet it remains on all the time even when the engine is switched off. Is this normal and if so how do I overcome it so that it switches off when the engine is stopped. Thanks Ian Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 It's normal and don't worry about it. If you're parking up for a week-end or longer (eg going on holiday) just unplug the supply from the socket (like I do with mine) if you're worried about excessive battery drain. Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 The cigar lighter staying on after the ignition being switched off is normal, the only way it is to unplug the phone lead when you leave the car unless you fancy rewireing the cigar lighter to an ignition switched feed? that or hard wireing the phone lead to a switched feed up under the dash?
