patrick Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 hi can anyone help my airbag light is on had the car 1 weeks now it was on when i got the car ive read about the clockspring senser geting a fault , now iv found a old horn switch in the glove box so it looks like its had a new one fitted do you have to take the airbag out to fit the new horn switch if you do do you think they may have not put it back right thus causing the airbag fault Quote
Taliska Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Hi, Can't be certain about this on a Galaxy, but as it is a VW, it might be the same as my wife's old Seat, which is another VW. I had to take the airbag off the Seat to get to the clock spring which I replaced - I'd broken it when replacing the indicator switch block. Duh! Having put the new one one, and checked thoroughly that it was fitted correctly - i.e. didn't go tight before the steering wheel reached the end of its travel - I unfortunately tested out the new indicator switch block before putting the airbag back on. The computer (or whatever it is) registered this as a failure - once failed, it will stay like that until it is reset via VAG-COM. I had the airbag reset at a service - was done FOC. To take it in just to get it reset would have cost Quote
