skippy 2 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Hi guys I have looked through the various pages for this topic but haven't found what im'e after. The air temperature on the climate displays is saying 4c with the little ice light on. This was probably right this morning at 8.30 but not all day. This has happened before with various temperatures sticking. It sounds like the outside air temperature sensor at fault. Can someone point to where it is in my MK1 V6. Would this problem affect the A/C operation although it seems to be working ok. It was just a thought really. Quote
sepulchrave Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 The sensor you seek is under the top of the front panel next to the offside headlight, if you lift the offside headlamp bulb access cover off you should see a wire near where the bonnet release cable goes under the front panel. A low battery voltage can cause climatronic to play up so this as well as resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery. Quote

It has cleared since but if the battery was low would this still happen if the engine was running as the alternator would be sending a charge back to the battery. If I change the sensor is it going to cost a lot of money and is it easily changed a I haven't looked for it yet. I presume I would need to rest the ECU or disconnect the battery if the sensor was stuck but I don't think I need to do this. Quote
