Can I check a point please?

When I place the key in the lock and turn to the unlock position for .5 second to begin the programming procedure all the windows begin to open. And then when turning to the unlock position three times the windows move down again. Should this be happening?

You are holding it in the unlock/lock position for a lot longer than half a second.

BTW, I noticed that there wasn't any chip (PATS) that can be dropped off from the keyfob. The chip is actually soldered on a PCB, which may become loose. A tiny black plastic stuff CAN drop off but it's just a cover for the chip.

Hey, thanks for posting the photos of the inside of the key, and the PATS chip. I found recently that my Galaxy key (the "spare") wouldn't start the car - it would lock/unlock remotely, but when trying to start the car, it would turn over, then die. The other key would start it fine.

I remembered that the key had fallen apart in my pocket a few weeks back, and tonight I just happened to find an odd piece of plastic in my pocket - after looking at the photo, and supergluing the strange piece of plastic back into place inside the key, hey presto - it starts the car again!!!

iirc it has benn posted on here that the pcb board can sometimes crack through pressing to hard or just brittle with age,or it might be a dry solder somewhere on the board itself.

I have a 2003 mk2 galaxy, the remote central locking was working perfectly then stopped working for a while and we have accessed the car manually. I have now tried to reprogram the remote central locking fob. I have followed all instructions to do this but the led in the drivers door does not flash when I have completed the key fob buttons sequence. The fob goes into programming mode and flashes 5 times but the door led just stays lit for 10-15 seconds then goes out.

I have replaced the batteries and even bought a new fob, same serial no etc siemens 5wk4 790/97/98 433,92 mhz but no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas as this is driving me crazy now!!.

Should I be checking the wiring now??? have tried the reprogramming steps 30-40 times now and still no joy.

Oh also the rear passenger door goes through a series of unlock lock unlock lock when the central locking locks all the other doors. Could this be a wiring problem which is then affecting the central locking as a whole? or do I jusn need to replace the solenoid here.

first check the wiring in the hatch.top right in the rubber boot, detailed instructions somewhere on here, probably in the faqs they always tend to break here and causing all sorts of problems.hth
