CodeMonkey Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 I took delivery of my new Galaxy 2 days ago (it only took 5 months from ordering to delivery  ) and so far its been great. I do have one minor issue with the bluetooth and was wondering if anyone had any ideas - if not I'll go back to the supplying Ford dealer but i know I'll probably be greeted with blank looks. I was just searching the net looking for help on a bluetooth problem with my new Galaxy and i found this site. I've got one of these PDA phones (its a company phone) which has rather sensitive touch screen. Every time i switch on the ignition, the bluetooth syncs with the phone and turns the phone on (which means the screen becomes touch sensitive). If the phone happens to be in my pocket and i forget to remove it, then as i'm driving the phone will do all manner of stupid things like dialing the last number, running the web browser, and many other random actions. My old car had a phone craddle so i got used to taking the phone out of my pocket and putting it in the craddle, but the Galaxy doesnt have a craddle. My old car didnt turn the phone on either when the bluetooth sync'd up, so this behaviour is specific (or new) to the Ford Audio system. Does anyone know how to change the Ford Audio system so it doesn't switch the phone on automatically? ThanksIan Quote

ThanksIanHi IanI am not a expert with the Ford Bluetooth system, but with experiance with other systems, I suspect you cannot change any thing in the car set up, but I am a bit confused with what you say when you say it "switches on the Phone", If the phone is switched off (and not in say a sleep mode) then I would say it cannot switch on the phone. But if I am miss reading your post, then check the settings in the phone its self, you might a setting in there ! Also there is a problem any way, as the system is always going to be a problem with you, as the idea with bluetooth is that it s a totally hands free, and even if the phone was switched on before you switched the car on then the touch pad would be a problem, so what is the problem with the car! Sorry if that is no help, but please try and explain more if I have got it wrong Radiotwo Quote
mk2vr6 Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 go through the bluetooth settings in the phone and set the car to unauthorised, that way IIRC you have to manually accept the link between car and phone Quote
CodeMonkey Posted September 28, 2008 Author Report Posted September 28, 2008 Like i said, its a PDA phone with a touch sensitive screen - an Orange M3100 (otherwise known as HTC TyTN). Normally when the screen back light is off (and the phone is in a standby/sleep mode), the screen doesn't respond to anything touching it and the buttons on the phone don't work either (except for the on/off power button). This means i can put the phone in my pocket and not worry about the thing making calls or anything as it moves around in my pocket, but it will still ring if i get an incoming call or txt message. However as soon as the phone syncs up with the bluetooth in the car the screen turns on and the buttons become active (in other words the phone automatically comes out of its sleep mode) meaning that if i forget to take it out of my pocket then it ends up doing all manner of stuff. This never happened in my old car which had a TH Bury System 8 with a universal bluetooth cradle where although the phone would sync's up with the car kit, it wouldn't power-on. Also there is a problem any way, as the system is always going to be a problem with you, as the idea with bluetooth is that it s a totally hands free, and even if the phone was switched on before you switched the car on then the touch pad would be a problem, so what is the problem with the car! There is no setting on the phone that i can find which will stop the phone powering on like this, so i was just asking if anyone knew of any settings in the Ford bluetooth system that controls this behaviour?
