My fuel pump has been wining away for a while now so i got round to replacing it with one i bought from ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fuel-Pump-Ford-Galax...id=p3286.c0.m14

but now i have a problem as when i stop to turn of onto a side lane or stop at lights it will intemitently cut out, it will re start and run fine, its never cut out while driving only when coming to a stop or slowing down rapidly.

i have replaced the air bypass valve recently as that was also playing up so that part is new, i suspect it may be the pump that i bought as it has a low pressure of 1.2 bar where i have seen other units on ebay that are 3 bar.

i did not have this problem before fitting the pump, so am i right to assume it could be not be high powered enough?

Sounds like a reasonable assumption. Did you check the part number on your old pump against those in the ebay listing?

You also haven't provided details of your car - I assume it's a 2.0 or 2.3 petrol?

IIRC, these engines run at a fuel pressure of 2.7 bar, so a 3 bar pump would be right. The pressure regulator on the fuel rail will tell you. 1.2 bar sounds like the fuel pump for old single point injection engines which ran at 1 bar.

As insider says, check the part numbers on what you have bought.

This is the correct answer, you have bought the wrong pump. All Gals are multipoint which all need 3 bar pumps.
