seatkid Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) 1. Don't panic 2. Check you have petrol in the tank. 3. Charge up your battery 4. Try your spare key in case you lost the immobiliser chip. 5. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when the ignition is turned on? If not, then check Relay 30 and its connections (search the forum for details). 6. Remove each HT lead in turn and check you have a healthy bright blue 1"+ spark when turning over. 7. Having bought 4 plugs - why not try fitting them, they always work better IN an engine and check you have the leads connected to the right plugs. 8. Visually inspect all around the engine, particularly where the work was done, looking for broken/disconnected wires and damaged/pulled off pipes 9. If everything above is fine, then either get a diagnostic scan done - or maybe change the crankshaft position sensor. Edited September 24, 2008 by seatkid Quote

seatkid Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 In order to help you further with electrical tracing you need to find out if its a 97 model year or 98 model year. The changeover was august 97, so an R reg could be either - but the wiring was completely revised at that year change. for 97 model year or earlier only....... Check for 12 volts on the black/yellow wire to the Electronic DIS module which is mounted on the bulkhead, centreThis 12 volts comes from the K108 relay in central junction box (Ignition relay), which energises when the ignition switch is on for 98 model year....... Check for 12 volts on the black wires going to the coil paks. This is supplied directly from the ignition switch when turned on. Of course it could be something simple like you didnt connect the ignition coils correctly - are the connectors fully home and right way round? Quote
MK1MEXI Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 okill have to check that thanks!! oh yeah its a 99 (T REG) not R - REG!! does that make a difference Quote
seatkid Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) Yes it does....ignore the information previously  99 model year 2.3L petrol only Check for 12 volts on the green/red wire going to the coil pak 1 and green/black wire to coil pak 2. These are supplied directly from the ignition switch when turned on. It could still be something simple like you didnt connect the ignition coils correctly - are the connectors fully home and right way round? otherwise the ignition switch is suspect especially if other things come on when the ignition is turned on.
