For the last two years of owning my mk2 tdi (115) Gal, she's been running progressively worse and worse, until last week when I finally threw my dummy out the pram and decided to fix the damn thing!!!

Having already replaced the MAF sensor once, resulting in no change to the poor running predicament (no power, chronic turbo lag, no willingness to rev, and unable to pull more than 85mph down hill with the wind behind me) I thought it was time I stripped everything I possibly could out of the engine bay, to give me access to all the pipes running down the fire all.

10 mins into the job, I noticed a split pipe, which runs into the 'valve' (???) on top of the engine, right over the back. Result, I thought!!! 5 mins later, I had replaced the hose, put everything back together and thought I'd go for a spin, smug in the knowledge I'd traced the problem and it'd cost me nothing to fix.

How wrong I was............. Although throttle response had improved, there was still no turbo power. fearing the worst (blown tubbie) I thought I'd just unplug the MAF sensor, and track any chnges. Another spin up the road, and it was confirmed in my head that the 'new' MAF was knackered from new.

Cutting a long story short, I picked up my new MAF from my wonderful local dealer, fitted it in 5 minutes, and ..................

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO, we have turbo power again.

Can't believe what I'd been missing. she pulls amazingly well now, and I even manage an indicated 100mph (on a local private road, I must add!!!!!) and she ws still pulling strong.

I am a happy man again.................. Now where's my nearest tuner, I feel a performance chip coming on!! lol.
