Sher Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I had read it was 10litres. However, as time went on I found that often even though the tank warning light had been on for some time I would not be able to squeeze in more than 63litres. The volume is said to be 73litres. I now no longer worry until I have travelled 100 miles+ ( without caravan) about filling the tank. The Maximum I have ever managed to put in the tank is a 68litres. If figures are correct then I could still manage about 50miles. Quote
MrT Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 The tank gauge is also badly affected by the angle of the slope the car is on. If you are facing downhill on about 10% or greater, the warning will come on with half a tank and the gauge will also show a nearly empty tank. It takes quite some time before the reading gets back to normal. Quote
Beyond Help? Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I always have a 10 litre reserve, it is in a black plastic 10litre diesel can in the back.... Quote
Bigjeeze Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I have been able to get 75 litres in my tank. I read on here somewhere that you can hold the "air" valve in the neck of the filler in with the nozzle of the fuel pump and that will allow you to get in more fuel. Since I started doing that I have been able to get 75+ litres in my tank - but more importantly I can now get 700 miles before the light comes on - It's still doing around 44mpg average but I am able to get more fuel in giving me a longer range.
