Hi

I've logged onto this site because my Galaxy (1998 2.3 Manual Petrol) started playing up at the weekend after years of faithful service.

We were in the lion enclosure of a safari park of all places  when the clutch decided not to play ball - it was a pretty steep slope, the car was hot from all the stops starts in the park and with a tank full of petrol for the journey home, three excited kids and all our luggage it was pretty heavy - I tried to pull away and the whole car started juddering. It did this two or three times before we escaped the lion's den and made it to the relative safety of the zebras and giraffes and ultimatley the car park.

After cooling down it behaved better but repeated the same problem driving home at a few junctions. Now we're back in flat boring Norfolk its fine again - there is no juddering when its cold on the drive and I can easily put it through all the gears with the pedel half depressed without it complaining - would the car been hot add to the problem ?

I think clutch is probably going but since I've read here that its anything from 400-1000 to replace its not something I'm going to rush into to.

Any advice ??

Juddering was probably because the clutch/flywheel was stinking hot. They do that. Should be OK now its cooled down. Edited by seatkid
