Whizkid Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I think I understand how TPMS works (individual sender on each wheel) but does anyone know whether each one is configured front L & R and rear L & R , or does the system work this out for itself ? When the time comes to change the fronts, I was thinking about putting the new tyres on the rears and moving the rears to the front. Any thoughts or experiences of this ? Quote
GaryM Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Don't know about the Galaxy but I have had a few mini's that have run-flats fitted and so they have TPMS as standard. On those they measured wheel speed. As the tyre deflates it diameter becomes smaller and hence rotates faster. Over time this can be detected if compared to the other wheels. When ever you changed the type pressures dramitically it would come on. There is an overide button to press which recalibrates the system. Quote
Whizkid Posted September 13, 2008 Author Report Posted September 13, 2008 Thanks for the reply. I asked the question because I was thinking of swopping the fronts with the backs. I know that the valves on the wheels are special in that they have some sort of sensor, but didn't know whether the technology was clever enough to work out if a wheel had been moved. Quote
Veejay Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 I broke one of my tpms valves recently...thank God for run-flat otherwise I would have been stuck with no spares.Spent Quote
