Mike E Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 I have a MK3 - 1 year old Ghia - The silver plastic is peeling from the clip-on piece by the handbrake button (plastic trim piece comes off easily if you pull it as it clips on - same for the bit the other side of the handbrake). It is badly finished as the flashing was raised - and just starts to peel when you touch it. I have asked Fords at Farnborough - But when he looked he said I need a complete new handbrake assembly ( Quote
Shabazmo Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Surely a waranty job. Not fot for purpose. Quote

Neily Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Like pretty much everything else on the mk3, designed by accountants and put together by underpayed id***s who probably don't know what an Assembly Instruction is. I would complain like hell mate, as has been suggested, this is surely a case for a warranty repair, although check precisely in your owners service book if the warranty covers interior trim within the the age of your car. At the very least I'd write a sharp letter to the Customer Services people, explaining the situation. For what it's worth, the side trim on the handbrake lever on my galaxy fell off last year and I stuck it back with superglue. Been OK since. Quote

Was repaired under warranty with metal trim and button. Quote
captainpp Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 This happened on my S-max (we've a Galaxy now), and the dealer told us trim wasn't covered under warranty, but they'd put it through anyway as needing a new handbrake. Didn't get it done for a while and then while in France on holiday the whole handbrake fell apart in my hands. Luckily I happened to be just pulling away from a Ford garage (as they'd just fixed the dead S-max engine!) and got them to clip it back together. I then used duct tape to hold it together and got the "warranty" job done ASAP! I'd have no qualms about demanding a fix under warranty again. Quote
