marcr Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Is it a diesel?I don't know loads about it but i'm guessing:Address 18 Aux heater 5 x repeated flame out = Unit underneath the back of the car with little exhaust that speeds up warming the engine to temp needs a new glowplug/clean.Address 08 = does your A/C direct the air where it should be according to the dial and at the right temp? Might not have the full range of motion. I think it can be reset?? I'm not gonna guess about brakes or engine but put the fault code numbers into the search box and a load of info will come up. Did you scan for codes, then clear the memory then take it for a drive and scan it again? Quote
harpster Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 hiCar is a 1.9 TDi thanks for your reply, how do i reset the A/C it is the type you are talking about.I will also scan again thanks Quote
sepulchrave Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Harpster, you need to make sure your battery is fully charged, also check for wiring faults and clean up MAP and MAT sensor connectors with contact cleaner. Then reset all the faults, charge the battery (disconnecting it will reset the ECU to default settings as well). Then take it for a long enough drive to get properly warmed up and re-scan for faults. There should be fewer, although it does sound like you may need a new MAF. Your Auxiliary heater will probably also need a new glowplug as marcr suggested. Quote
Smilge Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I had the 17552 on mine constantly even after substituting a new MAF and according to a freindly VW teckie if it's showing intermittent, they ignore it. The 17564 and 17569 indications are caused usually by a dirty TMAP sensor. You can reset the aux heater codes and bypass the temp sensor to get the booster heater to fire up. If you get further flame outs then the glow plug needs replacing or wiring to the heater checked. Quote
harpster Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 hello againi have cleaned the map and tmap and removed the fault codes and they have not yet come back, but first thing in the morning i get a engine judder (like it going to stall) for a couple of minutes every 20 to 30 seconds and rich fuel burning smell from exhaust. :D I have not yet tackled the following:01189 - Front Air Distribution Flap Motor 01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap 01314 - Engine Control Module 013 how do i bypass the temp sensor and do i have change all glowplugs too :o Quote
mos Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 the glowplug is in the heater unit under the near side rear door.you have to take it to bits to change the plug.two hour,s in time to do the job. :o Quote
harpster Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 i also don't get cold air from aircon when i put iy on and it has no leaks and is fully pressurisedcould this be linked to aux heater problem too Quote

sepulchrave Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 (edited) No, that is probably because of the faulty temperature distribution flap listed above. Sounds like a couple of your flap motors may be jammed or U/S. Edit: The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) memory fault in the climatronic is perplexing and may be related, does your climatronic display give any clues? Edited August 25, 2008 by sepulchrave Quote
