alanrob Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 I am picking up my 2002 Galaxy tomorow (should have been today but it needs a new coolant relay or something). It is a Ghia spec and has what appear to be factory tinted windows. However they are not very dark. Is it possible to add a tint film to these windows to make it harder to see in? Will it work or is it just a waste of time? My main concern is security as there is no load cover. Alan Quote
Mirez Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 It would be cheaper to just buy a load cover! That said the factory tinting is applied when the glass is being manufactured, ie its not a stick on film but embedded into the glass. Therefore you can add a "first" layer of tint direct onto it to darken it down yet further. Quote
veedyf Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 ive just bought them...brill they are http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...N:IT&ih=017 Quote
alanrob Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 Thats what I thought. The other problem is that the kids might not be able to see out after tinting. I want to add a load cover but there are no barakets.I did find a post that was talking about the clips from VW for the load cover so I think that might be the way to go, I think i'll have to look out for a load cover. al Quote
Davetheref Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 ive just bought them...brill they are http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...N:IT&ih=017 Can I ask how easy they actually are to fit as I've heard some nightmare stories about DIY tints in the past. Cheers Quote
veedyf Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 i had a spare galaxy luckily enough and ive taken windows out and done em like that ....i didnt want to attempt doing it the other way ....they are drying nicely in my garandmothers consrvatory easy when out of the car...aint got a clue otherwise Quote
Mirez Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I've done the mondeo, focus and a 106 in the past. Its a reasonably easy task but takes copious amounts of patience and a virtually sterile environment. The slightest bit of fluff under the film and you are, well.... fluffed  as you'll forever see it. I've never used the pre-cut stuff before, always used a roll and cut it to size myself but thats an art in itself! Quote
alanrob Posted August 9, 2008 Author Report Posted August 9, 2008 Picked the galaxy up yesterday and I'm not impressed with the level of factory tint so I think I might have a go at topping it up with a diy kit. I don't need to darken it much so I think I'll get a medium kit from that ebay seller. Might have to shave the dog before we do it though as shes been leaving hairs everywhere. Alan Quote
