well on mine i have the bonnet switch but no under bonnet light, where talking of a whole mismatch of electrical items on these cars, that even the so called experts have no idea on,iirc under the passenger seat is the ecu/control box,if it has 3 terminal blocks attached to it you have an alarm if only 2 then you dont(i was told this when i had my mk1 2ltr petrol).

No MkII has under bonnet light but the bonnet switch is standard in these and the 2 poles are connected in parallel.

Irregardless of whether you think my statements are true or not :P...........oh f*** it...http://www.briskoda.net/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif... chicken, wire up your chinese "brain" and enjoy ......

I need a beer and to seriously consider whether I should go to bed earlier (yes gregers!), I spend far too long on this site...http://briskoda.net/images/smilies/nopity.gif

Why? I must be crazy.......http://www.briskoda.net/forums/images/smilies/pillepalle.gif

lol

wow so many replies,

mainly just to disagree but yea replies non the less!

ok let me put you lot out of your missery.

The alarm and yea chinese one it now officially fitted! and yes there seems like there was a alarm fitted on before but someone has taken it off or maybe even it wasn't there in the first place, just dont know!

and the chinese alarm is going for gold in only that its working without trouble here in uk or even if it was in bejin! (correct my spelling please do!)

But the add ons are cheap, siren couldnt scare a cat, and shock sensor, really need a ultra sonic one but i've been told these are not expensive! hope that true!

but never the less I like it, anti hijack, long range remote, blaa blaa does wat it say on the tin i guess just shame about the crap add ons.

o yea the guy who done it for me nice chap indeed tried to wire up the tail gate lock as mine does not have a boot release button, it worked when he was just testing ti with a stright wire through from the fornt to back of car but when it had to be put into dash bits the wire got much longer so the lock only moves a it!

so it dont really open but he said dont waste your money if you cant get a stronger boot ram to lift it up on its! if i can find a stronger ram to lift it from bottom to top then he'll relay it up with more power!

so anyone got any advise in where i can get better rams???

Well thats the alarm life story hope it put you lot out of your missery!

hi

my alarm keeps going off on its own, when it feels like it!

it does is mostly when i get to work in the mornings, after about 20 -30 minutes and then throughout the day every 30 minutes. I have had the battery checked and it is at 12.64 on the volt meter at kwik fit

I have also checked the rubber grommits on the doors and bonnet, but they all seem fine with no splits. Its driving me nuts, any help please.

Usual reasons for factory fitted alarm problems are

1. Water ingress into the remote locking/alarm control unit on those models where its fitted under the front seats in the floor.

2. Interior ultrasonic sensor alarm (optional extra) goes off if the windows arent fully closed and there is a rapid temperature drop.

You can disable the alarm by turning the key twice in succession when locking the car, or pressing the remote lock twice (wait a couple of seconds between each action) - First operation locks the car, second will release the deadlocks and switch off the alarm (the indicators will flash to acknowledge)

Ikkle Spiders can find their way into and tend to make their homes around the ultrasonic sensors. So check for webs and then tell them to p*** off!

Oh dear after all this time no you have no alarm it was optional on the Ghia X at that time

so if you want a good system follow the advice and have it done proper

hi

I think i have rectified my alarm problem. Its been 4 days and it has not gone off !

I took out the ultrascan sensor on the driverside B piller and cleaned it and put it back in

Also Seatkid the my alhambra has no units under any seats, all electronic working are from the electronic module in the engine bay the manual states

thanks

Glad you got it sorted.

AFAIK no Mk1/2 Galaxy has its main electronics in the engine bay. Early Mk1 models (pre 1998) had ecu and central locking modules in the underfloor under the front seats. As these caused so many problems (with water), they were moved on later models to up behind the dash.
