MarvinHC Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 Hi, I am new here as I am getting a new company car and having been very happy with a MK4 Mondeo, the growing family makes me consider a Galaxy. My question: does anyone here drive a white Galaxy? I am considering ordering it in that color, partly because it is different from all the greys and blacks, and also because it allows me to fit a 2.0TDCI Autmatic Ghia with the extras I want into my company leasing budget, the extra for the metallic paint would mean I have to give up something else... What kind of (cloth) interior would you take? All comments/suggestions, ideally with pictures would be great :D Cheers Quote
mumof4 Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 white.. well, white is um... different, also white cars do not hold their value, and also need washing more often, if yer gonna be carting kids, get leather depending on their age, dont get beige interior, all marks show up like a nun in a whorehouse, have a gander on the ford website, you can see all the different options open to you in regards to colour, toys etc... to be honest..i wouldnt choose white, silver maybe..but not white. They dont look right in white., oh..welcome by the way, and all of the above is my OPINION only :D Quote
jkspoff Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 We have a white one where I work, it has blue lights and a siren ! Quote
morellomax Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 It's a company car so i guess you don't need to worry about residual value. White will be literally cool in the summer. I think it will look quite good with the latest dark privacy glass and 17" alloys that come standard on 2008 Ghias. I would go for the anthracite cloth interior. Leather is Quote
morellomax Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Does it have to be an auto ? You could get a 2.2d manual for less. I know I'm biased, but it's head and shoulders the best engine in the S-Max/Galaxy range. Quote
MarvinHC Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 Thanks a lot for all your honest feedback :o Indeed, it being a company car I don't care about the residual value. Leather would be nice, but indeed is too much for the budget. And to be honest, if it is 'cheap' leather, I prefer nice cloth seats. I remember sitting in a leather interior Vauxhall Vectra which was just horrible, felt more like plastic - but then I am spoiled with the leather in my Alfa Romeo :)The Alcantara one in the Titanium S-Max is georgeous, though I wonder if it doesn't wear off where the child seats are fitted? With regards to Auto or not: I have to drive everyday on the Ring-Motorway of Brussels which is the equivalent of the M25 here.... so definitely an auto! 2.2 ist unfortunately not an option anyway due to stupid car tax here in Belgium... Oh well, still unsure about the color... in the end it will be:- either white Ghia with GPS- or dark grey metallic Ghia without GPS- or Trend in dark grey metallich with GPS :o Again thanks a lot to all of you, will keep you posted once the decision is made B) Quote
morellomax Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 In non-metallic colours, blazer blue is not too bad either. Example of an S-Max here: http://galerie.s-max-club.de/main.php?g2_itemId=8784 Quote
Davetheref Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 in the end it will be:- either white Ghia with GPS- or dark grey metallic Ghia without GPS- or Trend in dark grey metallich with GPS I would, personally, go for the middle option as GPS is much easier to get after the event i.e. TomTom etc. and I dont think I could evr live with a white car. Johnny B Goode Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Although being "off" with the Galaxy`s at the moment ( seen this ?. . http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=15212 ), there are 3 Taxi`s around here in white , and to be honest I think they`re very eyecatching . Quote
searcher Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 I love white carsYears ago when i was a young boy racer i wanted a 205 GTI. It HAD to be white and a 1.9 and i still think white is one of the easiest colours to keep clean Quote
rshaw40 Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 White is, apparently, the new silver, which was the new black, in fashionable colours for cars. I've seen a white SMax which looked good. One tip though - give it a good polish when it's new and it'll be a lot easier to keep clean. The grey/black interior looks lots better than the blue one too... Quote
harpster Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Hello i have a satin silver Bamma, Boy is the colour hard to match when you want to do a repair !!Metallics have there down side  Quote
Shabazmo Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Saw a white Galaxy recently and I am afraid to say it looked like a wedding car. White will get you noticed but after a year, you will have to T Cut it to keep it looking good. Try the colour Chill which is a mix of silver and gold. Great at looking clean even when dirty. I heard that Galaxy's wil be fitted with the new auto gearbox after September. Called powershift its like the VW DSG box and is excellent. Also the abilty to store all your ipod songs onto the car and select the songs via the dash controls. Might be worth the wait. Quote

Where did you get that? Not sure if this is a good or a bad thing though. It might be more economical but on the other hand when you read all the problems that VW DSG drivers have with their gearbox.... Would love the Ipod connection though!!!!! Quote
Shabazmo Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Got the information from Gowrings, the Basingstoke Ford dealer. I understand your concerns but the reports on the motoring magazines are excellent. The box is cuttently being fitted to the Focus and the Cmax and will be offerred on all Fords soon. Type in "powershift Ford" on your search engine and read some of the articles about its installation in Focus and Cmax. M intereest is the low emissions, better performance 0-60 etc and of course lower road tax as well as a very fast shift. I have heard about the DSG issues but these were early models and hopefully Ford will have learn't from VW. Quote
Veejay Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Question from morellomax:Why is blue so bad...I am expecting delivery of a blue mkIII galaxy this week! Quote
morellomax Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 NewGuy - I only mean that I don't like the blue interior. Blue exteriors look fine - ink blue looks great on the MkIII. Quote
big_kev Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 NewGuy - I only mean that I don't like the blue interior. Blue exteriors look fine - ink blue looks great on the MkIII. I prefer the Blazer Blue to the Ink Blue. However I think that anyone who orders the "Tango" should seek immediate psychiatric help. Quote
mumof4 Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 You've been tango'ed!!.. sorry..its what came into my mind.. I like state blue. Metallic, nice and shiny.... Quote
Veejay Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 My GAL has been delivered! And Ink blue looks Awesome. Got it on the new 58Reg so can't legally drive...just sat on my driveway! How painful is that  :D Quote
seatkid Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Do they do flourescent yellow? That'll get you noticed. I wonder what the accident statics say about various colours? Basically lighter colours = safer car. Had a green car once, and it seemed to have more than its fair share of near misses. I say it blended in with hedgerows too much. And I saw a grey/green car recently (sort of army camoflague colour) that I didnt see until I was only a few metres away..... Quote
coopecs Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I'm new here but have just ordered a new Galaxy 2.0TDCi Ghia, with DVD Nav, Sun blinds, traveller pack, Convers 3+ controls and USB Connection.
