Hello

I've looked around & I've found some suggestions but they have been unsuccessful. My problem is that when I push the brake pedal the passengers side light switches on & I get the bulb failure light on the dash. I've check all the bulbs & tail light bulb doesn't switch on.

So I've swapped it over, still doesn't switch on & I get the bulb failure light on the dash. So I swapped the cluster with the one from the other side & success (limited) that worked but the hazards stay on.

Also when the headlights are switched on the brake lights are on. I haven't tried to reset the brake switch because I can't get the switch out.

This is very strange, can anyone help me out. Many thanks in advance.

I think one or more of your brake lights has the wrong kind of bulb fitted or has been fitted incorrectly - shorting the parking and brake circuit together.

Remove both brake bulbs, establish that the parking lights work correctly. Then check the brake bulbs are both dual filament 5w/21w offset pin types. Then refit one at a time making sure that its fitted correct way round.

Its not rocket science - the brake bulbs both sides are dual filament bulbs with offset pins 5/21W (offset pins means the pins on the metal collar are at different heights from the base)

If you fit/force in a single filament bulb or a non-offset type dual filament bulb you will have weird problems. BTW the cheapest place to buy brake bulbs is Sainsbury's -
