SteveB Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hi Folks I was wondering if anyone can help ( which they usually can here ). My W Plate ( 2000 ) Galaxy TDi Ghia needs new brakes ( pads & discs ) front and rear. This is going to be stupidly expensive if I get the garage to do it ( and Mr Ford is well out of the question ) , and since I'm more than capable of doing the job ( just a bit pushed for time ) I figured I'd do it myself. ( Oh yes I know about the Rewind tool, will be getting one ).... However looking at http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk/con...en-uk/d689.html I'm baffled as to whether I need 1994-2000 brakes or 2000-06 brakes, so if someone can give me an idiots guide on how I can make sure I get the right part ( preferably without taking the brakes apart ) I'd be eternally grateful ( oh the joy of having a car which borders on a model change, grrr ). Hi SteveSorry I cannot help with the answer about which pads, but looking at that link, those pads seem very dear, I would try a local car accesseory shop ! But to get to the point of which pads to get, You need to take off the wheel and remove the pads and see which is the correct one, but if you look at the first page of the link, it states up to 2001. But I am sure my son-in law got some not that long ago, and I am sure he paid about Quote
billywizzo Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 HiI am not 100% sure but in 2000 they changed from the MKI to the MKII.It will then depend if you have a MKI then 1994-2000 or a MKII then 2000-2006.Like radiotwo said, try your local auto factors as they should be able to work out the ones you need from your cars reg and year, well my local one does.Good luck.
