Guest disney_cjd Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 All I am about to collect our CMax Ghia with Sat Nav touch screen the 7" version. There is very little information I can find on this so I was hoping for some help. We opted for the version with the 6 CD auto-changer underseat, but the dealer says that this is actually in the head unit. So is he right? Do all these Sat Nav systems have a 6 CD changer in the head unit and therefore I should not have paid the extra 300 quid? Also, can it play DVD movies? How does it work? Is it worthwhile? Are you loving it? Appreciate any comments you can give on this. Thanks Craig Quote
Guest nimrod Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 There are two different options available for the C-MAX when it comes to the sat nav system and cd players, both options are the same till you get to the amount of cd's! the first option is for a single cd player and the other for a 6 cd multi changer mounted under the seat, I would imagine that's what you have paid for? As for playing DVD's I would hazard a guess and say yes as its titled as DVD navigation system in the brochure! I would imagine that the screen reverts back to sat nav as soon as you start moving! the other option for a DVD player is the roof mounted all in one unit with a 7'' screen and infra red head phones for the pleasure of the rear passengers Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Thanks for this, sorry I should have said I had the sat nav with DVD and CD changer, but the question is that the CD changer is not under the seat, as the brouchure says but is in the head unit. So I was wondering if Ford/Vistron had just amde all these systems 6 discers and therefore dropped the single slot in which case having paid the extra 250 quid I feel a little ripped off. Does anyone know if the 2 options (i.e. single and 6 disc) are actually still options, i.e. can you order the single slot or do you get the 6 automatically? THanks for the help witht he DVD screen, I was hoping it would play DVD movies but its nice to have that confirmed. It is noit sold as an entertainment system, that was the other one you mentioned witht he roof mounted screen so Ford may have turned it off? THanksCraig Quote
Guest eck Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Hi Craig I to have just collected my C-Max Ghia on the 1st of March with the Denso DVD Sat Nav system and the entertainment system. I ordered the single cd option which is MP3 capable so didn't see the need for the six cd option. I did try a DVD in the Sat Nav but it didn't work. Could you let me know if you got a manual for the Sat Nav (as i didn't) and also what version of DVD did you get. Thanks Eric Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Hi Eric We picked ours up on March 3rd and the delaer FOUND the CD changer under the passendger seat, we went with this option to give us room for a couple of tweenie MP3 cd's and then some for us, mind you I cannot get it tp play the iPod files so I might have to convert them from AAC to MP3. There is a manual for the Sat Nav system which covers the cliamte control and other bits and bobs- your dealer shold be able to get one for you from fords - they are quite lenghty things, if you have no luck I will ask mine for you or copy mine for you. The DVD version I have is version 1 dated 2002 - what about you? I was wondering when the new one comes around how much it would be? I like the idea of the enterainment system - very nice - where is the DVD player for that? ThanksCraig Quote
Guest eck Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Hi Craig The DVD for the entertainment system is mounted centre of the roof just slightly behind the drivers head, it also plays MP3's and I must say I love it as it keeps the kids quite and already they are asking when can they go on a long journey (wow) I Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Hi Eric Thats really great news - thanks for this. I will get onto Dovercourt and get a copy of the new DVD also - I will let you know if it arrives. The entertainment system sounds great, my kids are only 2 and not born till July so it was a little hard to justify but I am very jealous. How did you find out that the system was made by Denso I thought it was Vistron? Anyway thanks for the info and the part number. I will call them asap. CheersCraig ps - does you cMax have ISOFIX seats? Also did you fidn the aux heater mentioned in teh manual? ThanksCraig Quote
Guest eck Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Hi Craig If you look at the back of the blue DVD case that the disc came in you will notice the Ford Part No (bottom right hand corner), look directly below that and you will see the Denso part No. That Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Hi Eric Icould not fidn the aux heater on my compouter so maybe its not there. I am not having much liuck with the new DVD either. My dealer is very helpful but he has got onto Fords at Warley adn they say that the Ford Part number ending AA is the latest one. How did you get on? Do you have the contact details for Denso? ThanksCraig Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 as an aside the cd autochanger does not play MP3's - now thats a con! MP3's only throught he head unit. Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 my poor dealer must hate me. he has foudn the correct dvd now from Fords who have not helped him that much. But they are saying that this is a mis build and therefore they have to book it in to check it ina nd do it that way! Did you get eh disc sent to you Eric? C Quote
Guest eck Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Hi Craig My local Ford garage has been brilliant, the Salesman phoned us Monday and Tuesday to keep us updated with the situation, the Manual for the SatNav will be with him in the next ten day Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 If you look at the Ford Focus C-Max brochure (page 27) you will see that the SatNav with the (6x CD UNDERSEAT AUTOCHANGER) is advertised as HAVING MP3 capability, so I suggest you get back on the phone to your Dealer and get him to hate you some more. True it does! but it doesn't actually state that the multi changer is MP3 compatible! if you look at the second paragraph down in the centre of the page it states that only the single cd player has MP3 capability! Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Any luck witht he aux heater? I called the Focus C Max brand team at Ford at they were no help either. Ford have told my dealer that becuase the DVD is wrong then its a "mis build" and therefore has to be changed under warranty. Why they just cannot send another disc out is beyond me. I will work ont eh autochanger but I am really pissed about that. Now I have connverted loads of my iPod files to mp3 and Ihave to keep disc swapping. THanks again Craig Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 No luck with the Aux Heater although it states in the manual on page 72 that it Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I am a technology lawyer and I am still confused. I would have thought that if the head unit can read mp3's then the changer can? I think he changer is made by Alpine but I am not sure. Family work for Ford and that is what they say. I am still waiting for the correct cradle to come from Ford for the phone kit. I paid for the phone installation pack and the dealer gets you the cradle and even though the phone I have is the same as in the brochure (Nokia 6100) they still have not got the cradle. At first they were going to install a full Nokia hands free kit until my dealer stopped em. Now waiting on the part. Still love the car even though I sound like a moaning Minnie C Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 if its like the galaxy's aux heater? its an diesel burning heater unit that is plumbed into the coolant/heater system to add extra heat to aid the warming of the engine/ heater system due to the lower calorific output of modern tdi engines, its usually fitted as an option with a programable timer in colder climes to preheat the engine and give instant hot air from the heater Its the same thing I am told and now its standard on Galaxy Ghia's not sure why its in teh C-Max manual though. C Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 its standard on all galaxy tdi's do a search on the forum for more details, but get ready for a lot of reading! Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 ta - will do. Maybe it will be on teh 2004 1/2 model year Cmax as wll! Thanks for your help Nimrod and BTW the Sat Nav don't play normal DVD's which is a shame. I am looking over the net for some info on how we can overcome this! C Quote
Guest paulcull Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Hi, Can anyone who has received the latest 'AB' version of the Sat Nav software let me know the Ford part number, or preferably email me with the name of the dealership and salesman so that I can put my salesman in touch. He is insisting that his parts department are keeping to the statement that the latest version is 'AA' Thanks Paul Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Paul Your salesman is a dawg :( I would get him to chat to the man at Denso if I were you, he is top drawer and will osrt it out. My car goes in today to have the disc changed - its being classed as a misbuild! Appartnely the AB disc has 3000 more roads on it! Email me and I will give you the name of the name at Denso and his number. Get your dealer to talk to him. Email me atCraig@Disneystudios.co.uk Take careCraig Quote
Guest disney_cjd Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 well it went in today for the cradle for the pre-equip phone kit and yep its still int eh garage (Essex) and we had to come abck to Kent. Why? Well even though they had the manual out the could not find tha antenna and manage to break part of the dash and order a new bit. Then, they have still not swapped the disc because they did not have the correct paperwork available. Dealers - who would have em? Quote
