ACD1055 Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 (edited) Hello All, I need your help I have an intermittent ABS and TC light problem I guess a faulty/dirty ABS sensor is causing this as the TC works from the ABS?I have done a search and it seems this have been covered a few times so I'm going to try and locate the sensors and give them a clean at weekend however none of the posts I have read seem to cover the rear wheels are the sensors only in the front or are they in the same location on the rear wheels too and is it really as it sounds.. This is my understanding please correct me if I'm wrong. Jack the GAL up remove the 1st wheel open the sensor with an Alan key clean with WD40 put the sensor cover/wheel back one and go to the next wheel until all 4 are done. I read a CV joint contains a ring that shouldn't be cracked? As you might of guessed I'm no mechanic so this might be a silly question also is there a CV joint on each wheel? Is there something else I should check whilst I have the wheels off? Thanks again and all advice welcome Edited July 30, 2008 by ACD1055 Quote
seatkid Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 If its intermittent it could simply be a connector problem. Check the connectors (in the top of the wheel arches at the front, dont know where at rear). Undo them , inspect and clean and remake. Quote
ACD1055 Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 Thanks seatkid yes there intermittent I can drive for say 10 mins without lights then all of a sudden they will come on and stay on until the engine is off and then restarted after a period of time. Thanks for your help, are the connectors in the top of the wheel arches at the front easy to find and remove? seatkid Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 On mine (mk1) theyre clipped to the wheel liner near the top of the strut. Obvious when you look in the wheel arch. Quote
