GaryM Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Just had the drivers arm rest fail. Now won't ratchet to required position. Much preferred the adjustable knob on the MKII. Not sure if this will be covered under warranty as I'm assuming it is classed as trim. Anyway just had it apart and it appears that the aluminum casting has broken. It has teeth on it which have sheared off and bent. Looking at it it does not seem that well sized for the potential leverage that could be applied. Main reason for the post is a word of caution. I guess the kids climbing all over the car hasn't helped. I'll let you know how much the replacement costs or if it got replaced under warranty. Quote
GaryM Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 Warrenty... Sorry sir, Trim is only covered under the first year of the warrenty. You as a customer have to pay for our poor design  Took armrest off and drilled a bolt through to lock it in place. Quote
ayeupmeduck Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I have just had the same problem and like yourself blame the kids. My galaxy is now 2 years old and I don't think they will repair it under warranty. How did you get yours fixed? Just had the drivers arm rest fail. Now won't ratchet to required position. buford_t_justice Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Drivers failed on mine too at approx 18months. Dealer fixed under warranty FOC. The job would have been about Quote
JasonG Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Mine's failed at 18 months. I've got the cover off, removed the retaining clip and got the plastic back off. I'm stuck on the star washer - I can't get it off without destroying something (washer, armest, fingers). Should I hack off the washer and find a replacement or replace the whole arm? Jason Quote
Harbuckle Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Mine has failed on the passenger side. It will stay in the lower position, but not at any other. I may try the warranty route - but will not hold my breath. Quote
Linx Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Help, please! Is it hard to take off and how? I cant see any clips or bolts, only the zip at the end of it. But cant find how to undo that zip. Regards, Tom Quote

GaryM Posted May 12, 2012 Author Report Posted May 12, 2012 Pretty easy to remove. There is a sring clip which needs to be hooked off it is sandwiched between the armrest and seat. Push the foam back to gain access. With the clip removed the arm reat will wiggle out. Then from there unzip the upholstery and you can then slide the ali arm rest out. From there it is pretty easy to strip down. I just drilled through the mech and fixed it with a bolt Quote
Stephen154 Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Could you take a picture of the area where the spring clip is please? Quote
