Vag-com & Workshop Cd's

Hi .. :lol:

 

In the forums there are alot of people using Vag-coms & Workshop CD's from Fleabay.. Had a look & there seems to be alot of different ones to buy, can anyone tell me which they've found to be the most use.. Hate buying stuff from ebay just incase it's the wrong type or it turns out to be completely useless, sellers aren't too quick to offer refunds once the items are opened.

 

I have a T reg Galaxy 2.3 Ghia X it has a slight mix of VW parts as i've found out when trying to get the heater blower regulator from Ford, ended up going to VW for parts advice. If anyone needs the Red Capped regulator with the rods get it from Ebay for half the price.

I ALSO WONDER IF ANYONE CAN RECOMMEND A SPECIFIC ONE THAT THEY FIND PARTICULARLY USEFUL AS I FOOUND SOME ARE NOT THAT GREAT EVEN TOTALLY USELESS

This is personal experience only but it may be useful.

 

I got my VAG COM from a link on the Ford Scorpio site and downloaded a TIS disc free from somewhere. I can't remember where but if I found it anyone can. :lol: It may have been from here somewhere on this site. If you do download one it has to be saved to a cd with a specific label or it won't work. Mine had to be ISEN0401, the 0401 being a date I found on the download somewhere. I already had an earlier version for models up to 1999 but the new one only covers the 2000 + versions.

 

The site for the VAG COM promised a full version of the software and a TIS disc but I only got the shareware version and no disc for

I thought the 2.3 petrol was just Ford mainly, not compatible with VAG COM.

It does everything but the engine which is not much cop because thats what you want mainly want a dianostic for.

It may just be me (and probably is) but I bought one of these to help with my TDI problems....and it wont communicate with my car.

I am sure it is correctly installed as it passes the test mode OK.

All Ive done is wasted another

You need to ensure you have the correct version of VAG-COM, it's an older version which works properly with the cheap ebay leads, can't remember which version because it's on my lappy which I left at work.

If yours is like mine, you have to select 'dumb' mode on the test screen. You also have to have the igntion on.

 

Mine only seems to work properly if you select 'engine' and it connects usually on the third try.

 

I nearly gave up but it has helped me get close to my current problem and hopefully saved me a lot of dosh.

I cant remember seeing a dumb mode on the screen.....only a dumb bloke trying to use it!!

 

Do you set the test up as a Sharan?

I had a few problems with the connection initially, then it turned out to be the sostware driver, you need to go into device manager and manually install it under USB devices.
