Guest yurir Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I'm having a little tailgate earthing fault (all lights on the tailgate dim, fog lamp warning lamp and radio illuminate when brake pressed, lock motor wont fully actuate, etc). Had a look at the wires into the tailgate, but there don't seem to be enough wirer for all the negative returns. Does anybody know if some of the -ve returns are made via an earth through the door hinges, and if so, how the earthing could be improved ? Many thanks,Yuri. Quote
Guest nimrod Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Try useing a jump lead attatched to the lock latch and to something metal non painted on the hatch to increase the earthing, if the lights get brighter you have earthing problem  As far I'm aware the hatch is earthed through the hinges? all the lighting cicuits, the rear wiper and heated rear screem all share the same earthing point in the rear hatch, if it comes to it run another wire from another fixing point on the roof to the rear hatch to bolster the earthing circuit. It has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum about giveing the hinges a wack with a hammer to try to remake the earth bond through them! not sure if that was on a galaxy or a fiesta? Quote
