ACD1055 Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Hello, Sorry for all these posts for information.. As stated in my other threads I have just bought a Gal with no handbook I am trying to get one so my threads will slowey dry up when it arrives. I was wondering, As the display on the dash tells me when the next service is due (2000 miles) does it tell me when to change the oil and filters too or is my GAL not that clever? X reg 2000 1.9 TD Ghia Thank you. Quote
mumof4 Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Not that clever ;) services are due every 10 thousand miles or every year, whichever is closest. Major services are due every now and then when all filters should be done, pollen, oil and fuel. Sometimes sevice light indicators are not reset by a garage, but there is a procedure to reset it yourself in the FAQ section. Put in your sig that it is a MKII galaxy ghia X reg 2000 reg.Otherwise some peeps might think it is a late MKI. Cam belt is done every 40 thousand miles.IIRC. You have one of the very early MKIIs. Audiman Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 I thought cam belts were done every 60,000 miles ? Quote
mumof4 Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 in some models it was changed to every 40 thousand, depended upon your year, when i went into fords the other day, i queried length of time between changes, i was told for all models, all years it is now every 40 thousand.Whether that is true or not, i have no idea as this is fords we are talking about. gregers Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 i was told the change over was in 2003(depending)on when the car was 1st registered, iirc the 1st half of the year and before it was 40k later part of the year 60k,mine was changed at 60k confirmed by a ford garage in Southampton. Quote
Audiman Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 I got a MK2 TDI 2003 - A month ago I took the old Gal. for a service at Fraud. The damn mechanic couldn't take the oil filter off.He said that he bust his tool trying to take my filter off - the filter was stuck on to the housing bracket- he recommended to get a new housing and filter holder. I'm no rocket scientist but I didn't want to pay an extra Quote
ACD1055 Posted July 16, 2008 Author Report Posted July 16, 2008 Thank you.. never mind I'm getting the cam belt changed tomorrow so i'll asl them to do the oil and filters too. Quote
