sadgunner Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I need two front tyres for Galaxy 53 130 tdi.At the moment i have two 225/45R17/94V and two 225/45R17/91W. One lot are POTENZA the other Continental. Can anyone explain these numbers, and suggest what might be best tyres to buy?CheersSadgunner Quote
Mirez Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 225/45R17/91W. 225 = Tyre Width45 = Tyre Height as a percentage of the widthR = Radial Ply Construction17 = 17 Inch Wheel Size / Rim Size91 = Load Rating (91 can carry 615Kg Max per tyre - should never be less the one quater of the vehicles kerb weight)94 = Load Rating 670Kg Maxw = Suitable for up to 168Mphv = Suitable for up to 150Mph Out of the two I would go with continental but Potenza's are actually made by bridgestone tyres who are also very good - just go with cost! (Unless you plan to do that extra 18mph!) Quote
Alick Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 hi pal them 91 load index on your car are way too low for a galaxy they have too be atleast 94 index and upwards reinforced or xl extra load is a must .for when the vehicle is fully loaded or towing . also low index will cause sort tyre life and even more prone to blow outs.and could invalid your car insurance as we all know insurance company will they there hardest not to pay out when comes to low tread and wrong speed and load indexs. and when you looking for a tyre for vehicle buy the best you can the galaxy is not the best handling vehicle on the road. i have pirelli pzero rosso's 2254517 94w xl on my galaxy very grippy and hard wearing but at a price 273.00 with a 30.00 cash back on fuel for the pair and 60.00 pound back on a set. from pirelli agent in my area Quote
