ACD1055 Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Hello, I have just purchased a 1.9 TDI Ghia on an X plate, I'm going to collect it tonight.. Whilst looking over the car I did notice a small split on a piece of rubber pipe that was located at the back of the engine in the middle (under the windscreen) I'm not worried about it cos I can just take it off cut it back a few cm's and reattach job done but does anyone know what this pipe is for?? I think from memory there was 2 pipes next to each other about 1cm in diameter.. any ideas? Quote
seatkid Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 IIRC all the "rubber" pipes at the rear of the engine are all to do with the vacuum coontrol system for the turbocharger. The small diameter ones are covered in braided fabric and the the larger diameter are semi rigid plastic. All are reinforced so they dont collapse internally due to the vacuum. A leak in one of these will lead to "turbo trip out" otherwise known as "limp home mode" Quote
