nickcockman Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Hi all. Does anyone know when the plug circled (on the left) is for? It looks like it plugs into the back of the Radio CD player (didn't try it) but it wasn't connected (have only just purchased the car). I am guessing that it might be for the controlling the volume as the car speeds up or something. Or maybe it is for a phone kit or something :) Am I getting warm(er)? From the loom with the unconnected plug there is a fuse (circled on the right) - can't remeber what it said but might have been 3A - guess this is the fuse for whatever the plug does!? Any info much appreciated.Ta,Nick Quote
nickcockman Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 ... maybe I should have put this in the ICE section - would someone be able to move it for me?Thanks,Nick Quote
sip Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 (edited) Looks like you have a double-DIN unit, does it include Sat Nav? The black connector looks like what you would connect to a standard DIN unit such as the Ford 2006RDS or Ford 2007RDS models. Edited July 13, 2008 by sip Quote
Goofygolfer Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 thats the cd multichanger plug which is located in the rear cubby hole i believe Quote
nickcockman Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Thanks chaps. Goofygolfer I think you are probably spot on. It's a 6000CD but the autochanger has been removed, so it would make sense that they probably unplugged it behind the head unit. Not too bothered about the multichanger - more of a radio person :) Anyway, thanks for the help. One less plug to worry about in the car!Cheers,Nick Quote
Mirez Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Just to clarify that is indeed the multichanger lead - if its not being used and you can be bothered to remove it they go for reasonable money! :) Quote
nickcockman Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 unfortunately it was removed before I bought the car :) Quote
Goofygolfer Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 unfortunately it was removed before I bought the car :)no mate he means the multichanger cable, they are always in demand Quote
nickcockman Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 oh, right :) Does that mean I would need to pull the whole cable from head unit to back of car (I would assume it is in the loom?) or is it just the little connector bit behind the head unit? :) As you can tell, I didn't really look properly at the cable and the radio is back in now, so am probably asking a stupid question! :) Quote
Mirez Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 :) Whole cable, its normally a seperate loom though so just unclips from the retainers - takes about an half an hour to remove properly without damage, about 2 minutes if you are in a scrap car :) Quote
