Hello All,

I have a Mk3 Galaxy and I'm thinking about buying a load protection net. It is described as a 'durable retention net that keeps your items secure in the luggage department while you're on the move' in the Galaxy brochure. In the picture, which is very small, it looks like it goes from the floor to the roof. It looks like it would be a good solution to the problem of having a fully loaded boot (to the roof). I have tried a couple of Ford main dealers, but neither has been able to give me any more details or have even seen one. They only suggest that I have to buy one to see what it's like!

Has anyone got one of these? If so, would you recommend it?

Comments and advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

I have a cargo net, but it's not an 'official' Ford one. A few months back, our local Lidl store were doing a car accessory extravaganza and I picked one up for

Hello Neil,

Thanks for you reply. Perhaps I didn't explain myself properly, because what I'm asking about is a net that goes from the boot floor to the roof to prevent luggage in the boot falling forward onto the back seat passengers when the boot is loaded above the seat line.

Cheers,

Peter.

I think what you are describing sounds more like a dog guard - a mesh that mounts behind the 2nd row of seats. The load retention net is as previously descibed, an elasticated net which holds items to the floor, so in the event of heavy braking stops them moving forward in the vehicle.

Hi Peter,

I bought the Ford part along my Mk III from the dealer.  The net is very stout and will definitely stop cargo in the rear flying forwards.  I had a Volvo V70 before my Galaxy, which had a safety net built into the rear bench.  I didn't want to carry luggage behind my young kids without a net.

The net comprises 2 pairs of jointed stout chrome plated metal rods: one pair for the top (just under the roof) and one just above the floor.  When you open the joint up, the rods lock into a straight line - there is a button to release the lock.  The top rod slots into 2 recesses either side of the roof. From the lower rod there is a seat belt type strap and buckle at each end.  At the bottom of each belt there is a plastic covered metal hook which goes through a metal loop on the floor, either side of the middle row of seats.

It takes about 2 minutes to fit (or remove) and tensions up nicely.  There is even a hole through which the middle seat belt can fit.  There is a cover for the hole which is surrounded by Velcro.

I have just sold my Galaxy so I am looking to sell my net, which is in perfect condition.  I'll put an ad in the classifieds section, along with photos.

Cheers,

Phil.
