Dr Pete Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Hi, my friend has just bought a Mk2, diesel, late 2004 Ghia (which I will probably have to maintain) which is missing a Handbook/owners manualand I wondered if anyone out there had one I could buy or knows where I might get one from. Also, it's been booked in to have a towbar fitted but having got it home today it already has a factory fitted model and electrics minus the removeable ball (at least I assume it is removable). So is it possible to get another ball? Additionally a plate to take a caravan stabilizer is needed and I'm told that you can get them to fit around a removeable hitch - anyone know if this is true? Finally, having got the vehicle home it appears that the passenger, rear, side window does not open unlike in the MK1 & MK3. Is there any kit you can get to make it open? Many thanks in advance Quote
Mirez Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Hey, Ford Dealers sell the handbook at around Quote
Dr Pete Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 Many thanks for the info. I've checked the car and there is no ball hidden so will go to the dealer and will do the same for the handbook. Any idea about hte plate for the stabiliser? Thanks Quote
chromedome Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) I know nothing about towing, but my neighbour has the Ford fitted removable ball. He tells me that this fitment requires a special hitch on the caravan which grips the ball and works in place of the stabilizer. You may want to check, like as I say, I know nothing :) If you have a/c vents in the roof lining above the centre row and rear row of seats, then you have dual a/c. If so you will notice that the passenger side window switch is not fitted on the dash. This is because, like someone said, there is not room for the window motor due to the a/c bits. Off subject, your engine is a VW PD engine and requires oil to VW Spec 505.01. This is important. Hope the info helps. Edited July 10, 2008 by chromedome Quote
Dr Pete Posted July 11, 2008 Author Report Posted July 11, 2008 Thanks for the help so far. I've just contacted my local Ford dealer and can not get a handbook as they don't sell them once they stop making a model. So anyone out there with a handbook they could photocopy or scan for me? Also unless the car radio/cassette is included in that handbook does anyone have a user manual they could copy/scan. I asked about a tow hook for the factory fitted unit but they don't sell them. Any ideas? Pete Quote

Charlie Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 (edited) Hi Pete, If you wish to stick with a leaf spring stabiliser that requires a mounting bracket on the tow bar you need a Bulldog "LC8 swan neck bracket" or equivalent.New they will cost about Edited July 13, 2008 by Charlie Quote
