Electric Window Hassles

Hi,

 

I have a Galaxy 2.3i Ghia 99(x).

 

The current symptoms are that:

-- using the drivers side switch, the drivers window will not go up or down; the passenger side will go down but not up.

-- using the passenger side switch, the passenger window is fully functional.

 

I have tried a new (OS) regulator and switch to no avail so I would be grateful for any help or advice anyone can give.

 

I have seen a number of posts pointing to the wiring passing through the rubber gaiters in the door getting broken. I will be checking this next but please tell me if there are any other things to try.

as you have said check the wires in the door pillar first then go from there.

hi have same fault i have checked the wiring and they all ok .

 

both front windows dont work

when i press the buttons i hear a clicking noise from the motor both sides when i try each window but nothing else happens!

 

power seems to be getting ther? but im lost for ideas please help

try global opening - key in lock - hold in unlock position

tried global opening and all windows open except the 2 front ones :( ?????

Try "assisting" the windows with your hands when you operate the switch (you may someone to help you). It sounds as if they're physically stuck and the motor load limiting is insufficient to overcome the stiction.

Had to replace mine recently when the clicking started as the motor internal switching was bug--ed. Also found when releasing the pressure they worked again but as they hit the tops again they would lock out again so I replaced the full regulators to cure. Scrap yard were much cheaper than ebay at

I also took pictures of how to do the job with the windows jammed up! I found that lubricating all the flock runners with Silicone spray from Liddols supermarket made the windows much faster so friction is probably the main reason the motors fail.

Clean the crap out off the runners and my windows now shoot up and down in seconds.

Hi, did you sort this problem out? I have replaced the regulator in my MKII, but used the previous motor. The windows goes down without hassle but stutter on the way up and often get stuck?
