Asdrew Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 hi, have a '98 galaxy and recently it wouldn't start after you have had it running. the glow plug light doesn't come onat all but if you leave it for about 20 mins the glow plug light comes on and it starts. could this be the glow plugs not working or is it more likely to be the ecu? now the car won't start and the glow plug light doesn't come on at all. maximus Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) Hi, Grab a DVM (volt meter) and turn the ignition on, not check to see if you are getting 12V on the fuel solenoid. If not it may well be the relay which powers up the engines electronics. I had this exact problem when I bought my Gal, 1999 TDI 110bhp.The bloke I bought it off had wired an ignition 12v directly to the fuel solenoid, so it would start, but then it wouldn't turn off! So not really knowing what was wrong with it he sold it to me for a bargain price! ;) So I found the offending relay, which is buried away behind the fuse tray under the steering wheel area, just inside the door. All it was, was dry joints on the solenoid pins on the PCB. Re-soldered them and that repaired the problem. :) check out how to replace (or repair it) http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...0&hl=relay# Hope this helps! :) CheersMaximus Edited July 9, 2008 by maximus Quote
