POMPEYFAITH Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Quite easy to sort out but first you need new HT LEADS AND PLUGS and a tube of epoxy resin from halfords now take off the coil pack only one on the vr 6 engine bolted to near side of engine 5mm alan key you will need once off inpect it for hairline cracks if you find any for which i expect you will if the coil pack not been changed before now mix up the epoxy resin to instctions on pack and put an even layer all over the black part put somewhere warm to dry (i left mine overnight in airing cupboard) once dry refit to car along with new leads and plugs. there is a special tool to remove the HT LEADS that you will need and a long shank plug remover. car will now be super i done mine 3 yrs ago and still running nicely the epoxy resin is about a Quote

Alistair1 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Sounds like a classic MAF sensor failure to me. I Quote
sepulchrave Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Sounds like a classic MAF sensor failure to me. I Not on a VR6, the MAF doesn't make any detectable difference to the way the engine behaves, it only affects economy/emissions. Quote

sepulchrave Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 jtox, I hate to point this out, but you have posted TWICE in VR6 threads. Yours is a totally unrelated Ford 2.3 litre four cylinder engine which usually has problems with fuel pump relays etc. These threads are specific to the Volkswagen 2.8 litre six cylinder engine, and its problems are NOT common to yours! Start a new thread and post the exact nature of your problem, you'll then be deluged with help from experienced 2.3 owners. Quote
