After spending days & days on here, I've come to the conclusion I need to replace the drive shaft on my 2.8 '01 MkII to sort out the wobble/juddering when accelerating. I've found two drive shafts for

Hi,

Just to say that i bought some drop links from ebay and they have only lasted a year.

They need to be replaced again so will get some from ford or my local auto factors and see if they last longer.

Also check if the new drive shafts come with cv joints fitted as the pcture shows them fitted.

I have a cv joint to replace and have bought one from an ebay seller that others on this site have used

It has not arrived yet but others have said they used them so hope will be ok.

Good luck

Ah that was well spotted - I never noticed those CV joints on the shafts. Cheers for pointing that out, could end up saving me a few quid so owe you a pint

I gave them a call and they do indeed come complete with a cv joint. Giving my cars registration I was told that there's two types of shaft available - where it joins the flange, I quote "...it'll either be flower shaped or pancake shaped. If it's flower shape you're okay, they've got loads. If it's pancake shape there's none in the country and a re-con is the only option". Edited by geoff_s

While your there doing the work I would recommend dropping the small drive shaft on the drivers side as well the one that connects the drive shaft to the gear box.

There is a splined connector between that shaft and the gearbox stub axel that can go dry and fail

I'll take your advice & do them while I'm there. My car's got the flower shaped main shafts so I'm okay with the aftermarket ones but guess the other short ones are main dealer items as I can't find them anywhere else. If I do, I'll let you know where.

Geoff, you say they come with A CV joint? Do they not come with the inner AND the outer then?

Humm I do like second hand parts but I dont think for major components I'd like to go down that route -
