laura78 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 HiI took my galaxy in to have a new tyre today, but the garage couldn't do it as they couldn't find the Locking Wheel Nut, I think its missing. They suggested I try a Ford dealership who might have a master set, and then order the correct one, but when I did that, the dealership no longer had a master set. They have quoted 86+vat to hammer the wheel nuts off and replace with new ones (and then I will still need my new tyre)Does anyone have any good advice? Are there any other options to this? It's going to be a very expensive tyre change......Thanks, Laura Quote

big_kev Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 get one of these .....worked for me several times http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOCKING-WHEEL-NUT-RE...1QQcmdZViewItem I would assume any self respecting wheel theif carrys these anyway. Makes locking wheel nuts redundant and more trouble than they are worth. How many people have had their wheels nicked ....ever ? ( excluding parking in Liverpool.......amazed that the scousers still do this when over 20% of them are on disability ). Quote

Have you noticed Kev that now Liverpool is the the new City of Culture, they now leave your car on books when nicking the wheels?! Quote

Mirez Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 There are many ways to remove the nut, certainly shouldn't cost the kind of money you are being quoted!!! Depending on the type of nut thats on the car will depend on the easiest method of removal - most of the crappy older VW/Ford nuts which have the castella type nut (standard ford alloys up to about 05) find an old socket thats almost the size but a little too small then lump hammer it on, ensure its wedged on nicely and then simply undo it. The newer style McGuard nuts are a little more complex and you'll need something like the above. Quote
austin Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 dealerships are a joke i once had the very same problem and went to my local ford they charged Quote
