mumof4 Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 If you really would like designer scratches and a nice hole in the side of your car, plus the in fashion trend of scraped wheels and a nice dent in the wing, then just follow my steps. Step 1. Drive your car according to the rules of the road. Step 2. Indicate right to go up a hill. Step 3. Start Turning right. Step 4. Notice a car coming down the hill indicating right and it doesnt look as if its going to stop. Step 5. You both stop when car that was coming down the hill decides to use you as a bumper when he doesnt stop at the white lines.. Step 6. Get out of car, inspect your new designer look and ask him why he didnt stop. Step7. Stagger in disbelief when he says he didnt see you... (i mean, how the hell can you miss a Galaxy??) Step 8. Exchange details in case you want the other side doing to match. Step 9. Go to auto repair specialists for a quote, and promptly reverse into a lamp post and hence have more designer scratches but in the wrong place! here you go, my new look Galaxy. Quote to repair, 450 quid. Go private = add on top the cost of a hire car for a few days! What hit me? a 55 plate Vauxhall Astra.Driven by a lovely old man who was more concerned about me shaking like a leaf and him having to tell his wife what had happened. He was fine bless him. Damage to his car was all front end by the number plate, just scratches and scrapes. Quote
seatkid Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Bad luck, hope there won't be any unexpected surprise insurance claims..... Looks as if you got some bad rust there (hence the holes). Make sure they fix the rust if you want to keep the car a long time. Quote
mumof4 Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 well, the guy wants to do it privately, but im not sure. I had a friend with me, and they heard the other driver admit fault. The door and the wing will need a respray as is metallic paint, dent popped out, and the hole filling.. yep, will get rust sorted aswell, didnt realise it was that bad. Hopefully, this will all be sorted amicably., Quote
jkspoff Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Go to Halfrauds and get a touch up pen and some bubble gum to fill the hole ! Sorry to hear of your accident.....if you'd been driving a certain type of taxi then you'd have been claiming for whip lash injuries too :) Just get insurance to do a really good job, thats what they're there for, have got claims protection ? Quote
mumof4 Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 umm..thanks for the tips hun, but it wasnt my fault. The driver has rung me and given me a claim number from his insurers, he has admitted fault to his insurance company. Now his insurance company has told him i can ring them or they will ring me. Now, not quite sure what to do next, so will give his insurance a ring.See what they say. His no claims are protected and he was told that this wont affect them. Quote
Smilge Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Whoops .... as long as you're all right Maz. No, ring them as they'll have a local authorised repair shop and not a back street cowboy, then you don't have to accept the work if its shoddy. Keep a record of all conversations and demand a hire car. Quote
Mirez Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Sorry to hear of your accident but glad you are ok! Ring the guys insurance company with the claim number and they'll have a few places locally that they prefer - you can then take a trip to them and decide who to use - you don't have to use the ones they recommend but its normally slightly quicker if you do. When you take it in they'll come and inspect the damage before making a quote, make sure you show them both sides of the car - you will probably get that inclusively done at the same time as its only a dent and paint damage which they'll be able to just whack on the bill as it wont be itemised :) Quote
big_kev Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) Step 2. Indicate right to go up a hill. Eh ! ......... I don't normally do that myself.....? Anyhow, hope you haven't been too badly damaged pet.... :) Edited June 16, 2008 by big_kev Quote
