blackwolf0578 Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 searched topics and FAQ can anyone tell me is ECON on my mk 1 gal ghia AIR CON or not just had all cam and aux belts servicesd was re gassed 2007 (so i'm told) there doesn't seem to be any difference in temp whether its on or not someone please help v frustrated Quote
seatkid Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 If you have climate contol (LCD panel in centre console), then "ECON" indicate the aircon is switched off. The Aircon is switched on when the panel shows "AUTO" or blank where "AUTO" is displayed. Being switched on doesnt guarantee its working though. Quote

Therefore the coldest air available will be the outside temperature....although this may be sufficient when it is cold outside. The ECON bit refers to the fact that the compressor will cause the engine to use additional fuel to run it on AUTO. Quote
