NikpV Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 easy job - get a brake rewind tool though (looks like ...)- loosen bleed nipple as you push back to stop any crap being forced back into the abs system (according to TIS not strictly needed Quote

Audiman Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 Thanks Nikpv, To change rear pads, this is straight forward.I want to change my rear discs - what I really want to find out "do I need to press the bearings into the hubs/disc housing etc" Quote
NikpV Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 (edited) no you dont - simple countersunk allen key bolt removes disc with calipers off (same as front - picture of front here thanks to lim for the picture Edited June 2, 2008 by NikpV Quote
Audiman Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 Thanks again Nikpv. You're correct the back discs don't need bearing removing....phew, that'II make my life a great deal easier. Before I read your reply - I went to Halfords and checked the Haynes manual for MK1 (I assumed it's the same for MK2) - no need to remove bearings. Doublechecked with engineer at the Fraud garage - He confirmed no need to remove bearings.........Whoppeeeee! My Gals going to Ford on Thursday to get the Timing belt done...........STILL GOING TO GET A BIG BILL ANYWAY. Thanks for your help Quote
gregers Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Before I read your reply - I went to Halfords and checked the Haynes manual for MK1 (I assumed it's the same for MK2) - no need to remove bearings. there isnt a Haynes Manuel for the mk2 hence you get a great forum like this one ;) :D Quote
