kevb Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Is it just me or is anyone else having problems like me? first I have a water leak from the inlet manifold which is gonna set me back at least Quote
Audiman Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 I do feel for you Kev. My Galaxy is also the worst car I ever owned.Every month one thing or the breaks or stops working. I'm just greasing the whole bloody car, anything that moved - i've greased it! I'm getting awful mileage at the moment - 34miles per gallon in town. I get about 45miles per gallon on the motorway.I'm off to Wales tomorrow - lets see what breaks! Quote
jkspoff Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Kev, what year and mileage is your Galaxy ?Have a read through this forum and have a go at fixing some of your issues, the Galaxy is not free from faults, but neither are most cars, a mate of mine had a brand new BMW 5 series and its spent more time in the garage this last 6 months than hes actually driven it ! Quote
gregers Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 im not starting another mileage debate, but im only averaging about 34-38 mpg in town audiman, obviously anything up to 58-60mpg on a long journey, cant see why you think your getting awful mileage m8?i think thats not too bad imho. Quote
Mirez Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 34mpg in town isnt that bad!!! Its a big van not a car after all, the golf only gets 38 around town and thats weighs a lot less! Quote
Audiman Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Mirez and Gregers - you're both right 30 to 34mpg in town isn't bad for a 2 ton bus.I have a 2003 Zetec TDI which always seems to be going wrong. At least the turbo and wipers are okay - possibly changed by previous owner l hope!!!!!I fixed reverse sensor last week - wire had scuffed and worn away to the sensor.Still got problem with remote key and airconditioning. Tried changing the main bulb on the driverside or topping up brake fluid..........ha ha ha..... Quote
Kieran McCarthy Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Hi all,I have the following problems :1. Air con bust. Has been since we bought it. Nissan main dealer where we bought it have failed to fix it. Ford garage failed to fix it. Ford said they fixed it mind. Just didn't. 2. Water in the front footwell. Pipe for rear wash used to spray water under carpet. Fixed this by reading this website. More water since it came back from the ford garage. I went investigating and possibly made it worse by putting the plastic panel at the top of the engine bay back wrongly. I didn't slot it into all the catches. I suspect Ford may have done the same! Plastic panel fitted correctly now and fingers crossed. 3. Complete lack of power. The MAF sensor had failed. Sorted it out thanks to this website. 4. turbo cutting out. Soot build up on Turbo valve. Possibly caused by 3 above. Sorted it out thanks to this website. 5. Parking sensor failed. Replacement one ordered from Ford. Wrong one arrived. Replacement one ordered from Ebay. Fingers crossed. 6. Rear wiper continues wiping a few extra times after being turned off. According to Honestjohn.co.uk this may be caused by water in the motor. I haven't got around to doing anything with it yet. (Any links to threads on this?) 7. Drive belt pulley sheared off as my wife was overtaking. Lost power steering and alternator. Fixed under warranty. 8. The middle dashboard pocket doesn't pop up on it's own. 9. 7 bits of plastic have broken in the interior trim (left dashboard pocket cover's arm, Fuse box cover, Front Passenger seat recliner, 2X seat belt retainer in the middle row, 2 X knob to collase rear chairs. 10. Engine hesitates around 1500 rpm. Overall I love the galaxy for it's space, the way it drives, the power in the engine, the fuel economy, the high up driving position. I'd be slow enough to recommend one though. Reliability to me is a big let down. (I would have bought one of these over an Espace for the reliability!!) A lot of the problems I have had are well documented on this website. How come Ford did not sort these during it's almost 10 year life cycle? The rear wash emptying into the front footwell?? What is that about? This issue was around from the start. Why didn't Ford simply use a longer pipe? The Ford TSB on the front footwell lists about 5 reasons for water in the front footwell. Not including the rear wash or blocked gutter that are on this website. Is it designed to keep water out or in? This website is great in one way but a serious worry in another. Great to have the solutions to these common problems. Worry how long until I encounter the rest. Kieran Quote
insider Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 This might help with item 8 in your list . . . TSB22_2002.pdf Quote
gregers Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 keiran,is your car still under warranty?if so take it back about the aircon and demand they fix it. no:6 could be frayed wires in the rear boot hatch(common problem) Quote
DanglyBob Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Only just bought our Galaxy, making a list of faults to look for from the site rather than waiting for them to appear.... Anyojne thought of drilling drain holes in the footwell?, or maybe fitting a bilge pump? Quote
Lyle Waters Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 Well, at least my indicators are still working Quote
