I had this problem and did all the usual things with the brake switches - it turned out to be the black towing socket - one of the pins had moved back and was shorting onto another pin - changed the socket and all was well.

If you have a towwing socket might be worth a look

just tried this now......pulled the switch off & totally apart in bits...sprayed it with WD-40 ...hey presto it worked .....so far ....done 10miles ....still worked .....no flashing glowplug light....

make sure tho that you press brake in as far as it will go then pull plunger out ...then it will adjust itself back to where it wants to sit

had same problem - changed the brake light switch, problem still there.

In the end, changed relay 109, VAG part number 357906381A which sorted the problem.

We had a situation yesterday where the auto gearbox locked up as we got home with glowplug light flashing.....luckily just as we were parking.....! anyway... searched on here.... and set to work.... removed the switch....squirted with wd-40....and everything is working perfectly !!

Thanks again everyone......

Hve you checked ALL your bulbs to make sure they are working? I had ythis twice, once a brake light bulb had failed and also a headlight bulb, both made the glow plug light flash.
