DazzasGalaxy Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Hi all, Yes I am new to this forum. I have recently purchased a 52 plate Galaxy Ghia Tdi. I soon noticed that the air con was not working correctly so as its under warranty I got back onto the Ford dealer where I brought the vehicle from, they were good had it in fairly sharpish. They told me it needed a new compressor and new electronics (or something) behind the climate control panel. (sounded expensive anyway). I had to wait two weeks for the parts, they had it in last Monday and I got it back Friday, yes 5 days in the shop! The air con was still not blowing cold air, they told me as the system has been totally empty and regassed that it would take 500 to 600 miles for it to be flushed through. I wasnt too convinced with this statement and was wandering if there is actually any truth behind it? Will I be getting my cold air in 500 miles? I have searched this forum before posting this post and not found anything to such description. I look forward to a reply. Cheers Darren Quote
NikpV Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 sounds absolute B*llsh*t - once the compressor is liquifying the refrigerant which then evaporates then it gets cold QED Quote

DazzasGalaxy Posted June 5, 2008 Author Report Posted June 5, 2008 Got my Galaxy back yesterday, air con working, this time it needed a compressor, now I am almost certain that is what they told me on day 1 but they say otherwise, anyway after 3 trips to the work shop its had a new condensor, new compressor and some new electronic controlling thingys (thankfully under warrenty). I did feel a little silly as it wasnt blowing cold air in the rear of the vehicle so I nearly had them take it back again, BUT I found out from the manual that the cold air in the rear comes from the vents in the roof (where fitted), I only have the vents in the floor by the rear wheel arch. But I assumed that as it is climate control and has front and rear temp settings, that air con will be supplied to the rear of the vehicle! The other thing that annoyed me is that I asked them over the phone prior to getting the vehicle back if it was blowing cold air in the rear and they said yes!!!! Another quick question, can you see the compressor down at the front of the engine on the belt? I was looking for it last night and what I thought to be the compressor did not look like a new one! Thanks all for you support. Dazza Quote
searcher Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 As far as i know you will only get cooled air out of the front vents if you dont have rear roof mounted vents.Yes you can see the compressor by looking down towards the belt. I thinks its towards the bottom but dont hold me to that. Quote
