spl Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Can anyone shed light on this odd window closing problem? The car is a Mk3 '07 2.0TDi Ghia When a window is closing it sometimes retracts when reaching the top of its travel, rather than staying closed. It is behaving like it has detected an obstruction and retracts to prevent damage. But...It can happen on any window. It only happens at the top of the window travel. The windows usually stay shut on the third attempt. It only happens when the car temperature guage reads at least 24 degrees.Ford have reset/reprogrammed the windows once but no change. NikpV Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 it does sound like the obstruction warning kicking in which is overidden after 3 attempts try using some silicone lubricant on the tracks Quote
lukevernon269 Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 I had exactly the same fault. Same model and year. took it back yet again to the dealer, 10 trips in first year !!!! seems to have corrected the problem....fingers crossed. Currently negotiating getting rid of this lemon. Quote
si999 Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 I have the same problem on my 57 1.8 LX yet to be resolved. Quote
lukevernon269 Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Had a word with my man at Dealership today. Its due to the gasket round the window expanding when in hot weather. This causes a pressure on the window motor which activates the window safety mechanism which sends the window back down. It is overridden after the third attempt to close. He said he'd adjusted it but I don't know....the sun has not shined to bright since the problem occurred. I will keep you posted.Luke Quote

morellomax Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Wow - maybe another key or coin pressing against the remote in your pocket ? The remote has amazingly good range on these MkIII's ! Quote
wow Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 thought it was something to do with that_did I read somewhere that u can open windows with the remote?wow Quote
morellomax Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Yes - press and hold the unlock button and all the windows will open. Press and hold the lock button and they will all close. Once they've started moving (in whichever direction) briefly pressing the button again will stop them. Great when you're walking back towards your car on a hot day (or walking away from it and realise you didn't do all the windows up !) Quote

I have this problem but only on the passenger side front. It appears to be so tight that the anti trap you hand in the window protection kicks in. Need to take mine in some time to get it sorted, interesting that all yours are a problem! Quote
