Ford Galaxy 2.8 V6 Automatic 1996 P 'reg'

I am trying to get to the bottom of a couple of annoying problems

I just pruchased A VAG-COM shareware software and a cable that work (Thinks it's a VW Sharon but hey ho)

I'll dump the faults on here for an expert to look at Hopefully ;-)

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US

Control Module Part Number: 099 927 733 A

Component and/or Version: AG4 Getriebe 099 2395

Software Coding: 00000

Work Shop Code: WSC 00000

3 Faults Found:

00518 - Throttle Position Sensor (G69)

16-10 - Signal Outside Specifications - Intermittent

00660 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs

27-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent

00638 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs

03-10 - Please Register/Activate

The first thing I would do is to connect vagcom up again and Clear the Fault codes as they are intermittent and may be from previous issues where things were connected disconnected.

See if they re-occur and if they do post them back up here.

Hello,

00532 can be simply because the battery is not in tiptop condition, 2.8's eat batteries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Give it a charge and it'll probably be OK. I've had 00532 on and off for years and it's really never been a problem.

OK?

haha

00532 was caused by me running a laptop off an inverter from the lighter socket

Dooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh

Battery was flat when I tried to start the thing

Never thought a laptop could consume soooooo much power

Just a quick update

Computer says MAF Sensor Open circuit or short to ground

We replaced the MAF Sensor (only 15 quid) so thats a bonus

What else should I be looking at?

(Wiring, Connectors etc) any thoughts?

Cheers

These sorts of errors together usually point to a battery on the way out as once the voltage starts to drop the sensors see this as shorts, open circuits or out of range readings. Poorly fitted connectors or a dying alternator could also cause these sorts of errors.

Of course they could be real faults so don't ignore them, especially when one of them is the ABS.
